Molly Ringwald joins bigscreen version of ’80s TV show

Jon M.Chu has roped in “Breakfast Club” alum Molly Ringwald to star along his title characters in the feature film version of “Jem & The Holograms”, says THR.

Ringwald, who most recently co-starred on ABC Family’s “Secret Life of the American Teenager”, joins Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko, Ryan Guzman and Juliette Lewis for the Jason Blum produced effort.

The movie, which tells of Jerrica Benton and her alter ego, Jem, who fronts the band the Holograms, is based on an animated ‘80s TV series.

Ringwald is best known for her work in ‘80s pics like “Breakfast Club”, “Pretty in Pink” and “Sixteen Candles”. She has also been upping her bank balance of late working as a jazz musician.
