From Sal Gomez, Southern California, Drive-in Movie Society, Visit www.socaldims.com
: We thought some of your readers might be interested in attending this on Saturday…
The Southern California Drive-In Movie Society would like to invite you all to a night of, good fun with good friends at our unofficial tailgate party at The Mission Tiki Drive-In in Montclair California on Saturday April 7, 2007. The occasion for this pre-summertime fun bash is the release of Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez’s “Grindhouse”. Remember, this is not a normal “Night Out” with SoCalDIMS.
We will NOT be set-up in the snack as we usually do. You can look for us inside the drive-in. We shouldn’t be too hard to find because we will have our Banner on display. Let’s all get together on April 7th. We hope to see you at the drive-in. For more information on how to reach the Mission Tiki Drive-In visit www.missiontiki.com

Absolutely – I’m a big fan of the Drive-In experience, have been ever since I was a kid. So, for you ‘Holers out there that are in the area on Saturday night, go and check out “Grindhouse” with the gang. – Adam

From Shannon : I’m new to your site and love it. Can you give confirmation that Pirates 4 is on because according to the L.A. Times filming for part 4 might begin in August but only Depp is signed on but no Orlando and Keira.
Please make this Pirate fan happy.

The thing with a fourth “Pirates” film is that unless I’ve been consistently missing some kind of regular announcements, I have heard absolutely zero news that it’s a done deal, no news that anyone is signed for a fourth film – nada, nix, niente, zilch. BUT – with that in mind, the “Pirates” franchise is box-office gold at this point, so anything is possible, but I’d wait until “Variety” or “The Hollywood Reporter” start confirming it as a done deal. – Adam

From Helen : Is it official that Goran Visnjic who is leaving ER will play the next Bond villain? What’s up with all the recasting plague these days? I’m no longer excited about the X-Files movie with a different Dana Scully.
Is it time for the new round of 007 casting rumours already? No, nobody outside of Daniel Craig has been officially signed to the next Bond flick – I know there have been rumours that Eva Green will have a cameo in it (more than likely a flashback) – but that being said, I have heard that the next film takes place immediately after the events of “Casino Royale”, so there is potential for people such as Jeffrey Wright etc. to be init as well. Heard nothing about Goran doing it though. As for the “X-Files” story, we’ll delve into that a little bit later on……. – Adam

From Curt : A new retro sci-fi film, “Max Neptune and the Menacing Squid”, is currently in post-production, deriving inspiration from the old “Flash Gordon”, “Dan Dare”, and “Commando Cody” adventures.
John Garside (whose public access show “Marty’s Corner” was nominated for an Emmy) co-directs with Colin Fleming and shares writing credits with Colin Fleming and Jerry Renek.
The official website and trailer can be found at: www.maxneptune.com Anyone wishing to contribute a song to the “fan song page” can contact: www.myspace.com/maxneptunesong.
All behind the scenes footage can be found at: www.youtube.com/maxneptune

I’m gonna have to start getting cheques up front for these plugs one day….. Just remember if your film does well, I want my cut. – Adam

From Jason : Heard that there’s a major character from Jack’s past coming back on the season finale of 24. Carlos Bernard is the only one from the past who isn’t on another project and has been spotted on the 24 set this year….not to mention several reports of his characters “supposed” or “rumored” death. Have you heard of anything as to whether Tony Almeida might be coming back? With the lackluster season so far, maybe the producers could at least get this right and bring back an element of the show the fans actually want to see?!?!? Please tell me you have news!!!
“24” is one of those shows that I watch the first few episodes of every season, then miss one or two in a row, and then just can’t get back into, but what I do see of it, I love. That being said, I too have heard these rumours of someone from Jack’s past coming back into his life, but it isn’t Tony, I believe the person we’re probably most likely looking at is Kim Raver as Audrey (Kim left the show to work on “The Nine” which was subsequently cancelled by ABC). – Adam

From Holden : hey clint what smokey and the bandit 4 is sony going to the sequel and too we need darkman 4 again hayden christian the one who awkin sky walker on episode 3 should play as darkman that be really cool any way

From Holden : hey clint i got thing,s of diffrent film,s okay the frist one are they still planing for mad max4 or what i hope jim cavizel as mad max that really cool on big screen second one are they planing to make cgi tom and jerry movie go that would be freakin sweet jon heder as the voice tom and jerry senifelid as jerry the mouse that would be really funny any way

From Holden: hey clint are they still planing for the quatum leap movie are they still use the same two cast guy who played in the tv show i hope work,s out if they pull it off

From Holden : hey clint i heard about the green hornet movie are they going cast jet li as green hornet he mak really cool green hornet

From Holden : hey clint is waner bors going to sing a deal to make the a-team movie ice cube and roy schinder and bill pullman and robin williams and and th van

From Terrain : Clint, I know a couple of sites have seemingly debunked your Superman may be in “Justice League” before he’s in “Superman II” movie rumor… but… the thing is, WHY would they debunk it? Why WOULDN’T Warner have discussed this possibility… of course they would have. These kind of things are discussed all the time… so as far as I’m concerned, you’re still on the money… and your scoops always seem to pan out man, so keep up the good work!
I’ve got a guy that works in the small screen business in L.A. that has given me 100% reliable scoop each & every time, and I know the boss man has a shit load of contacts within the film biz that are just as reliable, so If I were a betting man, I would put my money on Supes being a part of whatever current Script / Treatment they are using for the “JL” movie – despite what you may hear from elsewhere. But on top of all of that – this is a JUSTICE LEAGUE film that we’re talking about here – now I’m no expert on comics, but when I think of Justice League, I could probably (quite wrongly) name only a few characters involved in it, the first two of which would be Batman & Superman. – Adam

From Mitchell : Hi Clint. I really enjoy your website. Yet I have to dispute the line Rocky “didn’t deliver a knockout blow”. It cost 24 million to make, it’s brought in around 145 million in total. I call that a massive hit. When I heard Sly was making it, I thought flop. “Rocky V” sucked. Dude, I cried in “Rocky Balboa”. It’s that awesome.
Didn’t deliver a knockout blow……. You’ll have to excuse me here, I don’t know whether Clint meant emotionally or financially when he said that – and I’m far too lazy to look it up. But to throw in with you here, yes it did very well at the Box-Office, and while I probably didn’t get to the tears stage (are you sure you’re not my pal AB King under a false name?), I do agree with you that it was a great film. – Adam

From Darren : Hello mate, hows things ? Is it true there are remakes of “Weekend at Bernie’s” and “Teen Wolf” on the way ??? Say it ain’t so please.
God I’m out of the loop here – not having access to the net for 2 weeks will do that to you. The Boss tells me that Tom Welling’s name was apparently floated around the traps as being attached to a “Teen Wolf” remake – so firstly, his reps say “No way, not happening”. As for the “Weekend” remake, yes, that definitely is going to be happening. – Adam

From Corey : Months ago there was word that there would be a Kickboxer 6. (to make everyone forget about the crap that was 5) It was suppose to be a prequel starring Sasha Mitchell. And they said it would be out sometime in 2007. Do you know of it? Any news? Info? I would really like to see a 6, cause I think Sasha Mitchell plays the role well.
Oh man, this is just an area of film that I never got into, these “American Ninja”, “Kickboxer”, “Prophecy”, Steven Seagal films that just went straight to the bottom shelf at my local video store – look, I won’t bullshit you, I’ve done a quick check around with some boys at the other sites, and they’ve got nothing on a “Kickboxer 6” – sorry dude. – Adam

From J.T. : Hi! Will “Lions for Lambs” be an Anti-War movie? Thanks Moviehole.
Errr, maybe? I don’t know dude, it sounds like it’s not exactly supporting the reasons that troops are there, while still supporting the troops if you get what I’m saying. – Adam

From Begging Marie : You have no idea how happy I am to know that Watson will keep doing “Harry Potter”. Can you add more good news as in Tobey still doing “Spidey 4”?
I think Tobey Maguire would be out of his mind nuts to pass up the opportunity to keep the “Spider-Man” franchise going, but the same story comes out of him and Kirsten Dunst on a seemingly weekly basis – they’d be happy to do another if the script was right, and if Sam Raimi directed it. Yeah, as for that Emma Watson thing, I doubt anything that comes out of a U.K. tabloid, so I was always going to wait until something official got announced – sounded like bullshit to me, it’s not like Scorsese was really knocking down her door to offer her parts anyway. – Adam

From Isaac : Hey what’s up?? Love the site, visit everyday. So here’s my question. Last year I heard about the “Day of the Dead” remake staring Mena Suvari and Ving Rhames. Any news on a release date or filming, has it already wrapped filming?? Thanks.
Yeah, “Day Of The Dead” is in the can, there was a teaser trailer that came out a little while back, but from what I understand, it’s going to go straight to DVD at this point. – Adam

From Angelina R. : Hi, Can you confirm if Don Cheadle’s character dies in “Ocean’s 13”? Cheadle said so on MTV news. I hope he’s joking because he’s one of my favorite characters in this movie. I can see Cobie Smulders for “Wonder Woman” but I prefer an American actress for the part. Even better if Warner Bros. no longer pursues this project. It has nothing to do with Whedon quitting because I’m not a fan of the man at all. I just find myself not excited or even caring about “Wonder Woman”. -Thanks for reading my note
Firstly, no, I doubt that Don Cheadle is getting killed off in “Ocean’s 13” – I dare say that he was just joking about that – I think the studio would be pretty pissed if he had given away a surprise like that in an interview. The debate continues on whether Julia is actually in it or not – I’ve got good word that says she has a cameo in it, but a lot of people are saying no chance – we’ll have to wait and see. As for “Wonder Woman”…. I think Joss is extremely talented, but I agree, I have zero interest in seeing a stand-alone film for “Wonder Woman”. – Adam

From Trevor : Nice to finally see some updates on anything related to Freddy & Jason. Carpenter to possibly take on “Freddy vs Jason vs Michael” is gold. A big time horror director like Carpenter is exactly what these characters need to bring them back to being scary again. Since Carpenter did the first “Halloween”, he should be able to find a creative way to bring in a character like Michael into the series without making it stupid *crosses fingers*. As for the “Nightmare” prequel and “Friday the 13th” remake, I know Freddy and Jason are dead, literally, but lets hope the series isn’t.
Uggghhhhh, I hate the idea of a “Freddy vs. Jason vs. Michael” picture. Todd Farmer gave some very candid answers to us this week on several topics, and I have to say that I agree with his take on “Freddy vs. Jason” – “I’m still disgusted by it. I never understood the thought process or decisions made concerning Freddy vs Jason. This was always an event movie. It was King Kong vs Godzilla and it was simply one of those slam dunks that rarely come along in the movie biz. But rest assured there are a string of morons at New Line who are convinced their feeble decisions led the movie to a 100 million. Pfft. It was going to make 100 million no matter who’s script got made or who played Jason. And that’s why not hiring Kane was such a travesty. Kane Hodder kept the franchise alive during the 47 years the think-tank kept FvsJ in development. Kane hit the conventions, he met with the fans, he WAS and will always be Jason.”

Perosnally, I think if there was going to be another “Freddy vs. Jason” pic, it would have happened already. – Adam

From Josh : What is the status on the sequel to “Boondock Saints”? Last I heard it was suppose to be named “All Saint’s Day”. Should I expect this in theaters anytime soon?
I’ve heard the same stories about a supposed sequel to “Saints” but last I heard, there was a lot of trouble scraping together the financials to get it off the ground – pity, because I thought the first film was great. – Adam

From Nanci : Booooooo CW for how they’re treating “Veronica Mars”. I don’t understand that stinker shows and reality shows stay afloat on that network while quality shows are being kicked to the curb. Thank you MGM for the “Stargate” movie. I would go insanely happy if there’s hope for an “X-Files” movie and even a “Farscape” TV movie.
Yes indeed……. What are you trying to say? The search for a new “Pussycat Doll” isn’t compelling viewing? – Adam

From Budd : I know this isn’t directly about movies or T.V. but it’s sort of related. Do you think a trend will start for official continuations of shows in comic book form? Properties have always been translated to comics but it seems a new trend is starting with official canon continuations of shows with there creators involved. I’m sure you know that the first issue of Buffy season 8 from Dark Horse came out a few weeks ago and sold out. Issue 2 is out this week. Joss is writing the first arc,a middle arc and the last arc as well as some standalone issues and overseeing it all. Former Buffyverse writers will be doing future issues and it’s being broken just the way the show was in the writers room. It’s the official continuation of Buffy unlike past Buffy comics. It was just announced at Wizard World L.A. about two weeks ago that Angel is now also getting a canon continuation. Canon Angel Season 6 is coming from IDW. Joss is also overseeing it like Buffy and will be co-writing. Like with Buffy, the previous IDW Angel books are non-canon, this will be the official continuation. First, what are your thoughts on canon Buffy season 8 comics from Joss and now canon Angel season 6 also from Whedon? And do you think this will continue with other genre shows? Joss has also co-written a Serenity comic set between the show and movie and has another coming in the fall. Could you see this start happening more and more especially for where a movie or on-screen continuation are unlikely?
Yeah, while it can never truly match another “season” season, I do like this kind of thing. I think by this point, most people are well and truly aware that long-time fan wants like “Aliens vs. Predator” were bouncing around in comic stores a long time before the movie hit, and it’s quite common for favourite TV shows (Star Trek, etc) to continue on in Graphic Novel forma, so I say bring it on baby. I’ve read the first issue, and it was great to see the old gang back, and knowing that it’s Joss behind it makes it even better in my book.

OK, now onwards to one of the most pressing topics of the week, and a reminder that you should really check out the links that The Boss provides before writing in……: – Adam

From Larry : Regarding your X-Files recast news on Gillian Anderson is this for real or April fools joke? I no longer care for the movie if Julianne Moore takes her place. I hate settling for substitutions.

From Greg : Howdy Clint, Just one thing. No Gillian Anderson, no X-files. End of story.

From Hank McCoy : Nice try with the fake april fools news about the x-files.

From Jeremy Domingo – Manila, Philippines : RE: Moore as Scully
DANG, strike two! First Clarice, then…then…hey…Loof Lirpa… OKAAAYY, any relation to Topsy Kretts from The No.23? YO ADRIAN where’s da subtlety? Hahaha! Love the site, Clint! Daily reading material for the last coupla years, along with Dark Horizons, Latino Review and of course Harry’s AICN.
Good on ya mates! Cheers and best wishes.

From Jennifer : RE your X-Files “scoop” about Julianne Moore, I hope you realize, of course, that the submitter of the news, ‘Loof Lirpa’ is “April Fools” spelled backwards…
And yes folks, that was “Hollywood Movie Star” Clint Morris’ little gag for the readers – rest assured, Gillian will most likely be back for another “X-Files” movie, but I can’t help but hope for that eventual “Evolution” sequel though 😉 – Adam
