New Star Trek Into Darkness image, 9-minute IMAX preview deets

Alicia Malone here – yep, one of only 8 journalists from the world allowed on the set of “Star Trek Into Darkness”. But more about that… much, much later.

Today, I tease. I tease of the tease.

A couple of short, well, stardate’s ago I had the pleasure of checking out – with several other international journalists – the first 9-minutes from “Star Trek Into Darkness”. The purpose of the preview? Well, to sell the media on J.J Abrams’ film, of course, but more so, to demonstrate just how divine this film is going to look in the IMAX format.

And yes, it does.

J.J Abrams, TV’s golden-boy cum cinema’s boy-wonder, introduced the footage by claiming “There’s a lot of intensity in this, and a little bit of gloom,” he admitted, “but it’s also fun.”

Yep, he’s right. It’s definitely darker, but still embodies a sense of fun, and if the first reel of the movie doesn’t grab you, you’re likely without a pulse! It’s brill!

I AM SAYING NOTHING.

See what the guys at /film, Coming Soon and Movieline had to say about the 9-minute IMAX preview.

You guys will have a chance to see what I saw – though, sadly, you won’t be able to hang at Bad Robot nor eat the delicious dinner we had afterwards – when the 9-minute clip hits IMAX in a bit.

Oh, Paramount sent this over! A new pic from the film!

(Interestingly enough, the photo caption says Benedict Cumberbatch is playing a character named ‘John Harrison’. Yep, not Khan. Not Gary Mitchell. But… John. But are they fooling with us!?)
