New Star Wars standalone film spoilers!

According to Latino Review, both Han Solo and Boba Fett will feature in the upcoming “Star Wars” standalone movie.

The spin-off, due in 2016, will be directed by Gareth Edwards of “Godzilla” fame.

The characters of Han Solo and Boba Fett have long been rumoured for inclusion in the film, though at different times, this is the first report suggesting they’ll both be in it.

The film, says the site, is gearing up for a shoot in Mexico – and pretty soonish, by sounds.

As for the plot, an earlier rumour suggested it would be about a team of bounty hunters hired to steal plans for the Death Star. But Latino Review say that won’t be the storyline; the events in this film take place long before 1977’s “A New Hope”.

I’ve been unable to elaborate on what that means, but as this new Star Wars film comes together, I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t a “stand alone” as much as it’s really a “spin-off.” Picture this: Young Han Solo in his life of crime falls in with Bounty Hunters and Hutts for a heist of super weapon plans for a blossoming Rebel Alliance. This movie isn’t about the Death Star, as Han doesn’t recognize it in A New Hope, it’s about the relationship between Han, Boba Fett and the criminals (I assume Hutts because the Hutts are so entangled in the Fett V. Solo story). And if this movie uses Han and Boba Fett as a way of kicking off a whole new series of Star Wars films, I wouldn’t be surprised if Boba Fett’s solo film picks up where this one leaves off. Yes, it’s super-inter-connected, but that’s what Star Wars is now.

Another prominent character in the movie is said to be Boba Fett’s daughter.
