New Trailer : My Bloody Valentine 3D

I can’t tell you how excited I am for my good friend Patrick Lussier right now!

Dave Davis (the writer of “Condition Dead” – the film I’m producing for Patrick) dropped me a line about five minutes ao to see what I thought of the trailer for “My Bloody Valentine 3D” – because Dave loved it to bits! – and much to my disgust, I hadn’t yet had the pleasure (been busy all day, and didn’t much get on the internet today) of watching it. In fact, I didn’t even realize it’d gone live!

Patrick – Sold!

It makes me want to rewind the clock, jump back into my 16 year old-self, grab a date, a bucket of carb-littered popcorn, and scare myself silly at the movies! The trailer alone has me giddy… I feel like a pre-pubescent tyke all over again!

Having worked with Patrick for the last year or so developing “Condition Dead” – and yes, we’d love to think we could use some 3D technology in that too, we shall see! – I can attest to how passionate a filmmaker he is – but more so, how wickedly talented the man is… he has one heck of an imagination. Lussier is truly the Steven Spielberg of the horror world – and I think you’ll all finally get witness the full extent of his cleverness and skill with this new film! It looks like it’s going to play as a giant horror orgasm…

…. and the 3D gimmick is undoubtely going to put lots of bums on seats!

In fact, the advertising campaign is genius – it reminds me a lot of the campaign Warner had for Wes Craven’s “Deadly Friend” in the late 80s. Commercials for that one – a rather so-so horror flick starring Kristy Swanson – targeted couples, promising blokes that their female companion would be in their lap by film’s end.. it was that scary (said the ad). It’s a terrific way to get bums on seats. At the same time, I think it’s going to deliver on its promises… from what I’ve heard, the 3D sequences are amazing! (Patrick has been working on them for a long, long, time – still probably tinkering away on them as we speak). In fact, I know it well. Patrick is a perfectionist… a man who makes films not for the paycheck, but for himself, and us…. he’ll only hand in a film he wants to see. I promise you.

Come January, we will be singing the praises of “My Bloody Valentine 3D” (and hopefully, January 2010 – “Condition Dead”).

Here’s the trailer everyone’s talking about, thanks to IGN

Patrick Lussier has poured his blood, sweat and sickly imagination into a remake of “My Bloody Valentine” and I tell ya, it looks stupendous! I am genuinely excited.
