Nicolas Cage Knowingly returns to Oz

Joan Allen signs for a “Dog’s Story”

Nicolas Cage, a near permanent fixture of Australia last year whilst shooting “Ghost Rider”, has signed on to do another film down under. The Oscar Winner will star in Sydney-based director Alex Proyas’s (“I, Robot”, “The Crow”) new film “Knowing”, says Variety. The film will bring Cage back to Melbourne, with filming set to commence in March.

Cage will play a teacher who examines the contents of a time capsule unearthed at his son’s elementary school. Startling predictions in the time capsule that have already come true lead him to believe the world is going to end at the close of the week and that he and his son are somehow involved in the destruction.

Meanwhile, Cage’s “Face/Off” co-star Joan Allen has signed to star in a remake of the Japanese horror film “My Life as a Dog”. Lasse Hallstrom’s “Hachiko, A Dog’s Story,” is about an Akita’s relationship with its owner.
