No Last Summer 3 for Watson

In a rather unfair near-time-to-picket move, actor Muse Watson has been dumped from the role that made him him a familiar name in horror cicles : that of the killer fisherman, Ben Willis, in the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" series.

According to Iconsoffright.com, actor/stuntman Don Shanks ["Halloween 5"] will replace Watson for the forthcoming "I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer".

Damon Santostefano will direct the film, which tells of four teens from a small Colorado town who will be victimized by a phantom menace one year after a July Fourth prank gone awry kills one of their buddies.

Watson has told us several times that he’d love to reprise the role again. At one stage, he was even set to reprise his iconic role for a cameo in the Wayans’ brothers "Scary Movie 2". All I can gather is that it’s either being made direct-to-video or that because they’re not asking the other original stars to return (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr) that they’re doing a total rehaul and recasting Willis, as well.
