No sequels or TV spin-off for Terminator : Genisys

Left to right: Emilia Clarke plays Sarah Connor, Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the Terminator, and Jai Courtney plays Kyle Reese in Terminator Genisys from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions.

While “Terminator : Genisys” might have made a lot of loot internationally, the Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring actioner was far from a success domestically. Still, it was expected that Paramount and Skydance would forge on with the film’s long proposed trilogy plans based on the box office returns from China alone.

Seems not. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Genisys” is ultimately going to lose money and as a result the franchise has been put on indefinite hold.

While “Genisys” was expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy, we might not see those next two chapters.

A source tells the trade that “the notion of a ‘Terminator’ universe is on hold indefinitely.”

In addition to sequels, Skydance were working on a TV series spin-off too. Sounds like that’s off, too.
