Octavia Spencer is up for what is surely considered one of the most omnipotent roles in existence (well, that’s a whole other debate) and while she’s at it she’s kicking some biblical stereotypes in the face – she’s going to turn Him into Her.
Yep, Spencer will play God.
According to Variety, the actress is in final negotiations for the part in Lionsgate’s adaptation of William P. Young’s 2007 bestselling novel “The Shack”.
The story centres on a man whose youngest daughter is abducted during a family vacation, with evidence found in an abandoned shack leading authorities to believe she was murdered. Four years later, the man receives a note, apparently from God, inviting him back to the shack and, against his better judgment, he accepts the invitation and finds something there that will change his life forever.
Stuart Hazeldine is directing the pic with production set for the spring.
