Paramount readies Beverly Hills Cop 4

I guess we can say goodbye to the “Beverly Hills Cop” TV show and reintroduce ourselves to the “Beverly Hills Cop” big screen sequel idea… yet again.

According to Deadline, Paramount is circling back to a proposed sequel for the 80’s cop comedy starring Eddie Murphy as the smart-mouthed Detroit officer, Axel Foley, that has been on-again and off-again for years.

“Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol” writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec will pen the script, and the studio already has Murphy onboard to reprise his role.

There’s no word yet whether Brett Ratner, originally attached to helm “Beverly Hills Cop 4”, is back on board but I do remember him saying a couple of years back that it might take a couple of years to get a script and the movie going… is now the time?

Also, no word on whether Brandon T.Jackson, who played Axel’s son in the rejected CBS pilot for “Beverly Hills Cop”, will reprise his role for the film.

Anyone else ready to hear that great 80’s instrumental “Beverly Hills Cop” score, Axel F, again!?
