Parker, Church, Shannon, Balsam face Divorce

Sarah Jessica Parker is returning to HBO for the first time since her “Sex and the City” days.

Parker is set to star in and exec produce comedy pilot “Divorce” which follows a very, very drawn-out divorce.

The pilot, to be directed by Jesse Peretz, will follow Parker’s character, Francis, a divorcee who suddenly reassesses her life and marriage and realizes that a fresh start will be much harder than she thought.

Thomas Haden Church will play Francis’s husband, Robert, who’s caught off guard by his wife’s perspective on their marriage.

Molly Shannon and Talia Balsam will also star as Parker’s girlfriends – Shannon as high-strung friend Diane who has a successful husband, beautiful home, but no children, and Balsam as Dallas, a close friend who has been widowed and divorced.

The script comes from Sharon Horgan and Paul Simms. They will exec produce with Parker, Alison Benson and Aaron Kaplan.
