Cage to headline Van Peebles’ USS Indianapolis movie

Just because we haven’t seen enough war films lately, Hannibal Classics is bringing us a World War II movie that Nicolas Cage will star in.

Cage nabbed the role in “USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage” from director Mario Van Peebles. Production will take place is Mobile, Ala from June 10.

Cam Cannon wrote the script about Capt. Charles Butler McVay (Cage), whose ship was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July 1945, after delivering parts for the first atomic bombs.

Only 317 sailors of 1,196 survived the attack and McVay was court-martialed, then exonerated more than half a century later.

The film is due to be released over Memorial Day weekend 2016.
