Pleading the French for more Twin Peaks!

I’m not a big fan of ‘deleted scenes’ – in fact, I’ll usually skip over them in any DVDs supplementary materials section.

‘’Twin Peaks : Fire Walk With Me’’ is different though – I’d give the flesh from my left butt cheek to science to see some of those moments I missed out on when I checked out the film first-day at the Lumiere Cinema in Melbourne back in 1992. New Line ruined that film by deleting about 90 minutes-or-something from the finished cut, not to mention completing destroying the continuity and flow of the picture by doing so (Yes it’ll still have been nutty – just not as nutty) and by golly, we want it fixed!

A French company owns the rights to the deleted scenes and at one stage they intended to release them on a “FWWM” DVD. Didn’t happen.

In a new interview director David Lynch says he’s hopefully we will see the new scenes (the scenes include more of Kiefer Sutherland’s character Sam Stanley, a humorous fist-fight featuring Chris Isaak’s agent character Chester Desmond, as well as appearances by some of the show’s most popular characters, like Big Ed and Sheriff Truman, whose scenes were ultimately cut from the released version) will one day see the light of day.

‘’ That, you know Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is owned by a company called MK2 in France. And I spoke to them a couple of months ago, um, I’ve spoke to them several times about this, you know, I think it will happen, but maybe the financial crisis is you know, affecting that in some way’’, Lynch tells WNYC. ‘’I’m not sure what’s going on. I’m pretty sure there’s 17 scenes in that at least but its been a while since we’ve looked into that.’’
