Puff the Magic Dragon movie in the works

Children of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00’s can unite in nostalgic delight as Fox Animation announces a movie based on “Puff the Magic Dragon”.

A hybrid live action/animated feature based on the Peter, Paul and Mary song is in the works at the studio with “Trolls” helmer Mike Mitchell set to direct.

Safehouse partners Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold will produce along with Weed Road’s Akiva Goldsman.

Written by Peter Yarrow and Lenny Lipton, “Puff the Magic Dragon” tells the story of an ageless dragon who befriends a young boy and takes him to the land called Honalee. The song was adapted into an animated TV special in 1978, followed by two sequels.

The news comes via Deadline.
