Quentin Tarantino signs up Luke Duke for Django Unchained!? Yeeeeeehaw!

He sure does love playing search and rescue that Quentin.

“Dukes of Hazzard” star Tom Wopat, “Beverly Hills Cop” alum James Russo, Todd Allen (“Silverado”) and James Remar (“48 Hours”, “Dexter”) are the latest not-exactly-A-listers to join the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s ensemble spag-west “Django Unchained”.

We see a lot of Remar and Russo still, but not so much of Wopat (though I do recall seeing him on an episode of “Smallville” a couple of years ago, reuniting with his ‘Dukes’ co-star John Schneider) or Allen. Allen, for one, has been busy on the other side of the camera – he’s the president of the production company Presidio Pictures and is one of the producers on the long-gestating “Last Full Measure” (a sequel to Jack Nicholson classic “The Last Detail”).

Says Variety :

Remar and Russo will play slave trading brothers Ace and Dicky Speck, who purchase Django (Jamie Foxx) at the Greenville Slave Auction. Remar’s “48 Hrs.” co-star Allen will play plantation overseer Dollar Bill, while Wopat has been cast as Marshall Gill Tatum.

In “Django Unchained”, Jamie Foxx plays a freed slave who teams up with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) in order to rescue his wife from an evil plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). The ensemble cast also features the likes of Rza, Kerry Washington, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Don Johnson, Anthony La Paglia, Samuel L.Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tom Savini, M.C Gainey, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney and Michael Kenneth Williams. The flick is out next Christmas.
