Though Universal canned it, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are still hoping to get their ambitious “Dark Tower” movie and TV series franchise up. Grazer says his producing partner is “trying to get outside financing to make it, and distribute it through a major [studio].”

Kyle Bornheimer has snagged two nupitals-themed comedies, “Bachelorette,” an indie comedy starring Kirsten Dunst, and “The Big Wedding,” with Robert DeNiro, Diane Keaton and Katherine Heigl.

Danny Trejo, M.C Gainey (“Lost”) and Charisma Carpenter (“The Expendables”) are among the cast of SyFy’s “Haunted High” telemovie. The story, by Paul A. Birkett and Anthony C. Ferrante, is set at the fictional Holloman Acadey, a New England private school that is visted by a demonic dead headmaster (Gainey).

Seth Green, Kristin Bauer (“True Blood”) and Cary Elwes (“The Princess Bride”) will join Lou Taylor Pucci in ”The Story of Luke”. The pic fixes “around a young, autistic man Luke (Pucci) who is searching for a job and a woman. Green will play Zach, who plays an instrumental role in coaching Luke in his journey”.

Twentieth Century Fox has confirmed a Feb 9, 2013 release date for “Star Wars Episode 1 : The Phantom Menace (3D)”

Fernanda Romero (”Without Men”) has joined the cast of the Latin themed feature film “Mission Park”; she plays the female lead ‘Gina Lopez’, who finds herself in the middle of a drug syndicate in this urban crime drama currently filming in San Antonio, Texas. The film also stars Jeremy Ray Valdez, Walter Perez, Joseph Julian Soria, Will Rothhaar, Vivica A. Fox, and Will Estes. “To me, this film is Casino meets Scarface, two of my favorite movies,” said Romero. “I’m excited to explore the role of Gina.”
