Speaking of his upcoming “Child’s Play” remake, ‘Chucky’ creator Don Mancini says, “We are going to reinvent the franchise : Chucky will be scary again. If you look at the first film you don’t see a lot of the doll and it will be the same here : Chucky will be kept in the shadows for a lot of the movie. This is going to be a very straightforward horror film which follows the conception of Chucky’s conception and how he ends up with a small family as a birthday present. Beastly“, starring Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens, will be going direct-to-DVD in Australia. The film was originally supposed to open theatrically in March.

David Hayter (“Street Kings”) is adapting the sci-fi series “Dragonriders of Pern” for the big screen. Sean Penn and Christian Bale are circling the Zack and Deborah Snyder flick “The Last Photograph“. The film, which is about to move from Warner Bros to Dark Castle, would star Bale as a “war correspondent who witnesses and is the only survivor of an attack on a group of Americans. Penn is circling the role of a retired ex-special ops soldier who comes to the scene determined to free a family member who has been kidnapped. The journalist agrees to help identify the kidnappers and travel the rough terrain to find them, in exchange for the story. The road brings them in confrontation with tribal regions of Afghanistan, and none of the diplomats will help.” (More…)
