If only Clint wasn’t under embargo, he’d be able to tell us what “The Thing” (2011) is like. Guess we will have to wait a couple of weeks for the zip to come off his mouth?
It was only a matter of time before it happened, and Universal Pictures has just released the new red band trailer below via IGN.
Nothing in here much scarier than the regular trailer that was released a couple of weeks ago, so I don’t see anything totally red-band worthy of it. Spoilery? Yes. So, if you don’t want to know what happens (even though we do know in a sense because of Carpenter’s film,) well, don’t watch! just wait till the movies hits theaters on October 14! And while I’m looking forward to the film, I do wish they’d stop showing certain things…no pun intended…in the clips and trailers that have been released so far.
Official plot: Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being. In the thriller The Thing, paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet. Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up. When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish. The Thing serves as a prelude to John Carpenter’s classic 1982 film of the same name.
Eric Christian Olsen, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ulrich Thomsen, Kim Bubbs and Stig Henrik Hof also star in the film directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.
