Remember our scoop about Daniel Day-Lewis being approached for Superman?

Speaking to E! yesterday “Man of Steel” star Diane Lane mentioned that she’s read the script for the new “Superman” movie – in which she’s playing Martha Kent – and that, contrary to reports that it isn’t an origin story, says “It does cover the entire range of years, from infancy on.”

Latino Review have heard likewise, reporting a few hours back that both Jor-El and Lara, Superman’s Kryptonian parents, will appear in the film (their involvement suggests we might see the whole ‘sent from a soon-to-explode planet in a baby capsule to Kansas sequence. Again). Further, the site reports that Daniel Day-Lewis was approached to play Jor-El… now where have I heard that before? Oh yes! Here! Unfortunately Day-Lewis – probably because of his commitments to the “Lincoln” biopic – has passed on the opportunity to succeed Brando.
So will Krypton – we’ll likely be seeing again – be the crystal-like planet from Dick Donner’s awesome original “Superman”? Nope, “this Krypton will PROBABLY look like the Coruscant skyline from Star Wars.”

In addition to General Zod (Michael Shannon), “Man of Steel” will pit Superman against another nasty Kryptonian, Faora; it was originally rumoured that Ursa, Zod’s sidekick in the first two “Superman” movies was to be the lead female nasty but seems Zack Snyder’s going for a character lesser-known – much obliged sir.

Hair, er, Here it is, the Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer!
