Rise of Skywalker new clip, TV spot, featurette

The first clip from next month’s “The Rise of Skywalker” has been released.

A chase across the desert, the clip is very reminiscent of a moment in “Return of the Jedi” – only replacing leaves with sand. Still, looks fun all the same.

A new TV spot is out there too.

In addition, a nice tribute-y featurette has been released.

The new clips come hot on the heels of an interview in Empire in which original “Rise of Skywalker” director Colin Trevorrow noted that The Emperor was never in the version of the film he was going to make.  His inclusion, the “Jurassic World” Director notes, was all JJ Abrams idea.

Bringing back the Emperor was an idea JJ brought to the table when he came on board. It’s honestly something I never considered. I commend him for it. This was a tough story to unlock, and he found the key.”

Finally, the running time of the film has been released – surprisingly, it’s a very “New Hope”-ish 2 hours and 21 minutes.
