Robert Pattinson may be Finnick Odair in Catching Fire

The Tannen-family’s one-stop show for movie news, ThinkMcFlyThink is reporting a rather tweetworthy rumour that “Twilight” alum Robert Pattinson might be reuniting with his “Water for Elephants” director Francis Lawrence on the filmmaker’s next film.

That next film?

“Catching Fire”, the follow-up to “Hunger Games”.

(I don’t know about you, but I gotta pull some fresh undies out of cotton balls now!)

So, should the offer come forthwith and consequently, the ink dry, Pattinson would be signing up for another youthy-booky-cum-movie-series venture.

Ca-ching!

Granted, unlike the “Twilight” flicks, Pattinson’s role in “Catching Fire” wouldn’t require him to be the top, er, ‘sparkler’ – he’d be a part of the supporting cast, and by all indications, it’d require less working days, hair mousse and lingering stares.

And my opinion? Do it man! that “Hunger Games” series is as classy as a popcorny franchise can get these days. If arthouse and commercial blockbusters got together, bonked for a year and made a baby, it’d fly out of the marquee gash as… Catching Fire!

If it was the role of a gay sailor in “Alvin and the Chipmunks : What a piece of Chip”, I’d say ‘no way!’ but this is a sequel that possesses both the ability to make you a pretty penny but also, comes with an acting challenge and inevitably, some good praise.

Pattinson is inarguably the best actor among the “Twilight” bunch (did ya see that “Remember Me”!? Bloody good film!) and has been picking some terrific films to follow-up his work in that series – including, the aforesaid “Elephants”. So, look, assumingly, it’s not the project itself here that’s of interest to Pattinson (can imagine he heard the word ‘franchise’ and ran for the backdoor like a teenager at a brothel whose just been introduced to his grandma in the backroom) here but more so the director, with whom he’s boasted about working with on the Fox drama since he stepped out of the elephant-shat train carriage.

ThinkMcFlyThink says Pattinson is who Lionsgate want for the role of ”Finnick Odair”.

Odair is a District4’er who, at age 14, was one of the youngest winners of the Hunger Games. In “Catching Fire”, he participates in a ‘Sale of the Century-champions’ esque battle against former winners.

Even if the role of Finnick Odair isn’t a huge drawcard for Pattinson, he should consider it : Imagine the money that he could be make by asking for points in the inevitable ‘Finnick Odair Bathroom Deodoriser’ that the studio could release?

‘Finnick Odair, for bathroom’s that beseech an odour of finicky tang.

So whatcha think ‘Hunger Games’ fans? Is this Finnick?

(What I want to know is, who will be the lucky guy cast as Katniss’s ‘bow’ in the sequel!? What guy wouldn’t want to be pulled by… Okay, sorry, that’s going too far. Blame it on the trilogy of injections I had this morning).
