Rogen, Baruchel commit to Apocalypse now

Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel, joke collaborators and “Knocked Up” buds, put together a piss-funny little faux trailer four years ago or so for an inexistent flick called “Jay and Seth Vs The Apocalypse”. If you didn’t catch it, here it is :

A while back Rogen announced he’d be putting together a feature film based on the trailer and in an interview with Coming Soon says the flick is hurriedly moving forward. The flick, which in addition to Rogen and Baruchel will also feature Rogen’s mates James Franco and Jonah Hill, will likely be before a in Feburary.

Rogen says of “The Apocalypse” (they’ve dropped the ‘Jay and Seth Vs..’) :

“We’re packaging the whole movie right now and we’re getting the cast locked into place, which looks like it’s finally happening, and we should start shooting in February,”

Rogen explained who he, and friends, will be playing in the flick.

“It’s all our friends, luckily, and we all play ourselves in the movie. I literally play Seth Rogen in the movie and Jay Baruchel literally plays himself in the movie and others – Jonah Hill, James Franco – they’re literally playing themselves in the movie.”

The storyline….

“It’s a movie about a bunch of friends who are stuck in a house together as the apocalypse happens outside and they kind of barricade themselves in,” he elaborated on the film’s main plot. “They think they’ve kind of survived the worst and then they realize they all really can’t stand to be around each other as they’re stuck in this house together.”

Evan Goldberg will co-direct with Rogen, his long-time writing partner and collaborator.

Rogen’s next film is the terrific-looking “50/50”, in which he stars opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
