Rumoured candidate for Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing remake

Not surprisingly, what with Hollywood it boy’s responsible for that contagious citywide disease known as ‘jump-on-the-bandwagon’, “Footloose” star Kenny Wormald is being eyed as a possible Johnny Castle (the character Patrick Swayze played in the original) in Lionsgate’s “Dirty Dancing” remake.

According to Hollywood Insider, Wormald’s breakthrough, the Craig Brewer directed “Footloose”, has been screened pre-release to quite a few public audiences and the feedback on the film isn’t only good, the 27-year-old actor – playing the role made famous by Kevin Bacon – is getting raves, like ‘that boy’s a star!’ sized raves!

Not a bombshell then to hear that another ‘dance movie remake’ might want to get their hands on Wormald.

Hollywood Insider says :

Wormald’s fronting a remake of another classic dance-flick Footloose and word is – and it’s backed up by a mass of public previews that Paramount has been having – it’s quite good, but Wormald is “star material”. The guy can dance, sing and most of all, work the ladies into a lather. Many of those involved in the remake of the Swayze/Grey flick have reportedly screened Footloose and like what they see.

Should Footloose hit big when it’s released in a few weeks, expect 27-year-old Wormald’s name to be heard in association with Dirty Dancing; I’m told he’s currently one of only a couple of young actors being considered for the movie at this stage.

So, what say you guys and girls? Is this guy Swayze material?
