S.H.I.E.L.D‘s up! ABC greenlights superhero series!

A first-look at ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” will air on the network this Sunday at 8PM.

The network announced today it was officially picking up the pilot, which comes from “Buffy” alum Joss Whedon and ABC Studios.

Whedon co-wrote the pilot with brother Jed Whedon and Jed’s wife, Maurissa Tancharoen.

The series stars Clark Gregg, reprising his role from the Marvel movies as Agent Phil Coulson. Also onboard are Ming-Na (“E.R”), Brett Dalton (“The Killing”), Elizabeth Henstridge (“Shelter”), Iain DeCaestecker (“16 Years of Alcohol”), Chloe Benett (“Nashville”), and “Angel” alum J.August Richards.

Since the project was announced it’s been a shoe-in for a slot on ABC’s 2013-2014 schedule.
