NBC has cancelled “Sean Saves The World”, which had received a 5-episode back order for a total of 18. Fourteen episodes have been shot, 12 have aired.
Deadline says both “Sean” and it’s Thursday night follow-up “The Michael J.Fox Show” have been really struggling in the ratings.
NBC hinted at the TCAs a week ago that things weren’t looking good for their comedy block.
“We like (MJ Fox). We like Sean Hayes’ show a lot. Creatively, we think they’re good shows, and we’re really unhappy that we can’t find an audience for them in those time periods,” NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said at TCA a week ago.
”Fox” is only still on the air because the network committed to 22 episodes up front. It’s unlikely that the show will be renewed for a second season, but that frees Fox up to – ideally – work on better projects for the network.. or elsewhere.
