Sequel News : Enchanted 2, Edge of Tomorrow 2, Penguins 2, Expendables 4

Appearing at the Television Critics Association today (for “Step Up: High Water”), Adam Shankman was asked about the long-gestating sequel to 2007’s “Enchanted”, which he’s attached to direct. “We are handing in a script in a couple weeks that I’m super happy with. Then gotta get the music written… There’s a lot more songs this time than there were in the original, at least in the planning phase right now. As for the animation, it’s probably about the same amount.” The film, says Shankman, will deal with Giselle questioning her place in the ‘real world’. “The fundamental story has changed a little bit, but not from the base story of it. It’s about Giselle 10 years later going, ‘What is happily ever after?’”. The film’s current title is “Disenchanted” (SlashFilm)

Doug Liman says the long discussed “Edge of Tomorrow” sequel may be his next film. Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour (where he’s promoting his new YouTube series “Impulse”), Liman offered an update on the film. “We’re just working on the script… [We’re no longer working on scheduling issues], now it’s down to we have a window where we could go do it, and we’re frantically working on the script. It’s one of those movies that we’ll only go make if we love the script. It’s not one of those things where the studio is pushing us to make it and they don’t really care if it’s good or not. If the movie happens, it will be because Emily Blunt, Tom Cruise and myself are passionate about making it, which is a great place to be. She doesn’t need this movie, he doesn’t need this movie, and I don’t need it. We’re gonna make it if we really believe in it. We have a story that the three of us love, so we’re working hard on the script… It has the possibility of being my next film.” (Collider)

Though he’d said to have left the film last year over creative differences, Sylvester Stallone looks to be back aboard a fourth movie. And so does the rest of the team.
