Sequel News : Twins 2, Con-Air 2, Scream 5, Human Centipede 3

Twins 2

While out promoting his role in “The Lorax”, Danny DeVito addressed the unyielding rumours that he and Arnold Schwarzenegger may dust off the mismatched siblings from “Twins” (1989) for a sequel.

“Yes, I would do it with Arnold. We would figure something out. The story has to be right, but I’ve always thought we should do something [and] work together again”. (Collider)

Scream 5

Despite the rather lackluster performance of last year’s “Scream 4”, the Weinstein’s are planning to make another film in the Wes Craven-directed film series. Kevin Williamson, the “Scream” scribe who returned to pen the latest installment, says he won’t be back for another though. Not surprisingly, considering how he and his script for “Scream 4” were treated by the studio, Williamson says he’s not penning another “Scream” movie for Bob and Harvey. The studio is apparently hearing pitches from other writers. (Assignment X)

Con-Air 2

Last year “Con-Air” helmer Simon West said he’d be interested in doing a sequel to his 1997 actioner; the filmmaker had even mentioned it to star Nicolas Cage, who would reprise his recently-patrolled hero role, and he reportedly expressed interest. John Cusack, another of the film’s stars, now says he’s totally onboard if the film gets off the ground. The actor said a sequel “would be fun” but “no one’s offered it to me”. (BBC)

Piranha 3DD

Though it still doesn’t have a release date, it’s been revealed that the “Piranha 3D” sequel will be released on VOD day-and-date with its theatrical release. (The L.A Times)

The Human Centipede 3

Ilona Six says a second sequel to the controversial horror flick is in the works. “Actors Dieter Laser [the mad doctor from the first film] and Laurence R. Harvey [the obsessed fan in the second, pictured] return in HUMAN CENTIPEDE 3 in the lead roles. Writer/director Tom Six himself will play a supporting role in the film. Principal photography will be in May and June in the Southern states of the U.S., and the film will be released in 2013. This will be the last film of the HUMAN CENTIPEDE trilogy [and] will be 100 percent politically incorrect.” (Fangoria)
