Fright Night 2
The direct-to-video sequel to the Colin Farrell-starring remake has snared Chris Waller, Will Payne and Sean Power for the lead roles. Waller plays ‘Evil Ed’, Payne is Charlie, and Power takes on the role of Peter Vincent. Jaime Murray (“Dexter”) is already onboard the Fox Home Entertainment sequel. The synopsis : “When high school student Charlie attends a study abroad program with his horror obsessed friend “Evil” Ed and ex-girlfriend AMY in Romania, he soon discovers their young attractive professor Gerri (Jaime Murray) is a real life vampire. Too bad no one believes him. In fact, Evil Ed finds it amusing and it only feeds his vampire obsession. When Gerri turns Ed, Charlie seeks out Peter Vincent, the infamous vampire hunter (well, he plays one on TV) who is in Romania filming his show “Fright Night,” to teach him how to take down Gerri before she gets to Amy, who’s blood will cure Gerri of spending eternity as a vampire.” (Bloody Disgusting)

Seems the long-gestating second sequel to the ’80s sports comedy is still very much in the works. In David S.Ward’s script, Charlie Sheen’s character Rick ‘Wild Thing’ Vaughn is a used car salesman. Sheen reveals, “If you buy a car from me, I play catch with your kid for 10 minutes. Seriously, it’s gotten that bad. My arm’s dead and then I find out I’ve got a son from a one night stand in Mexico who’s in the Cleveland system who’s throwing 105. He’s the new Wild Thing. It’s pretty cool.” Sheen, who said they’re currently seeking financing “as we speak”, suggested the film will feature every living cast member from the first two films – ideally, that includes the currently-incarcerated Wesley Snipes. “If we can’t spring him, we’ll just shoot him in close-up.” (Crave Online)

Independence Day Forever
Despite his commitments to TV’s “1600 Penn”, Bill Pullman will be back as the President in the “ID4” sequel. “I worried about taking this part because it’s [1600 Penn] heating up. I thought, ‘I don’t know if I should do the comedy’ and I talked to Dean [Devlin] and Roland [Emmerich] and they said, “No, do it. We’ll work around it. If it goes, we’ll work around it.” According to Pullman, the filmmakers have two different scripts – one with Will Smith’s character, one without it, just in case Smith ultimately agrees not to be a part of it. “The Will Smith part of it may be ongoing but I think there’s strategies for both. I like what I have to do in both of them. I’m not in an old age home in a wheelchair being wheeled out for one more moment. It’s a very interesting conception of what happens to Whitmore between then and when it picks back up.” Pullman suggests the movie might be filming within the year. (Crave Online)
