Shailene Woodley continues to run Adrift into meaty fare!

Shailene Woodley? True survivalist story? Sold.

One of the finest actors of her generation (go check out “Snowden” or “The Fault in Our Stars”, let alone “The Descendants”, and then argue the point with me) has signed up with one of the most promising new filmmakers on the strip for what sounds like a gripping, award-magnet of a movie, “Adrift”.

“Everest” helmer Baltasar Kormakur will direct Woodley in the tale of a woman and her fiancee who, after setting sail from Tahiti, find themselves in the middle of a dangerous hurricane. After waking up from an unconscious state, the woman finds her boat ruined and her fiancee missing. The rest of the movie would follow Woodley’s character as she journeys back to Hawaii, battling the elements along the way.

I imagine it’ll encompass a similar tone to Koramkur’s tense “Everest”, with a touch of survivalist classic “Castaway”.
