The long-gestating feature adaptation of classic TV hit “The Six Billion Dollar Man” has lost its director.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Damian Szifron, who co-wrote the script and was to direct the movie, has fallen off the Mark Wahlberg-starrer.
Warner Bros is determined to find a replacement director quickly so that the movie can still shoot this Summer. The trade suggests that Mel Gibson, who is onboard the film in an acting capacity, could potentially also direct the movie.
Based on the old Lee Majors series, “Dollar Man” will star Wahlberg as Col. Steve Austin, a downed pilot who is saved by an operation that makes him part machine.
