- Out promoting his latest “The Huntsman : Winter’s War”, filmmaker Cedric Nicolas-Troyan said “as far as he knows” he’s still attached to the long-gestating reboot of ’80s classic “Highlander”. “I’m still involved in it, very much so. In fact, I just talked about it yesterday with Lionsgate. You know, there are going to be some surprises there, for sure. I’m going to say that it’s very close to the original story, but there will be surprises. The characters you love in the first movie are back. There are definitely some changes, for sure.”
- Bryce Dallas Howard (“Jurassic World”) will star in and produce a series based on the historical novel “The Swans Of Fifth Avenue”.
- Gary Oldman might be playing Winston Churchill.
- “Spectre” helmer Sam Mendes will direct a film based on Gay Talese’s recent New Yorker article “The Voyeur’s Motel” for Dreamworks.
- AMC is going to soon allow people to text during movies. Hopefully they also soon let people bring steel baseball bats into movies.
- The logo for the upcoming “Power Rangers” movie was revealed by Lionsgate at CinemaCon today :
- Former “True Blood” star Joe Manganiello has had to drop out of History and The Weinstein Company’s forthcoming military drama “Six”. Production has been put on hold while the project recasts.
- Crispin Glover and Jonathan Tucker have joined the cast of Starz’s adaptation of the Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel “American Gods”.
- “Baywatch” was teased at CinemaCon this week – sounds like it’ll be a hoot.
