Snowtown helmer doing new Ned Kelly movie

Justin Kurzel, the Aussie director behind the acclaimed “Snowtown” and the upcoming “Macbeth”, is bringing Glenrowan’s most famous figure back to the silver screen.

According to IF, Kurzel is reuniting with “Macbeth” scribe Shaun Grant for a new film about notorious Aussie criminal Ned Kelly.

The Daybreak Pictures/Porchlight production will be based on the Peter Carey novel “True History of the Kelly Gang”, which was seen through the eyes of Kelly as he wrote notes on bits of paper while on the run from the authorities.

“The Kelly Gang” will be the first major film based on the iconic bushranger since 2003’s “Ned Kelly” starring Heath Ledger.
