Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris and Andy Garcia are in negotiations to join Gerard Butler starer “Geostorm”.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sturgess is in line to play a Secret Service agent with Cornish as his girlfriend. Harris would be the Secretary of State while Garcia is in line to take on the role of the President.
The film follows Butler’s character – a stubborn but charming satellite designer – who must work with his estranged brother (Sturgess) to save the world from a massive man-made storm due to malfunctioning climate-controlling satellites. A trip into space and a plot to assonate the president ensue.
The sci-fi adventure pic is being directed by Dean Devlin with David Ellison and Dana Goldberg producing with Devlin’s partners at Electric Entertainment, Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan. Exec producer is Paul Schwake.
Production on “Geostorm” is likely to get underway in October in New Orleans.
