“Just My Luck” star in talks for Captain Kirk
Hot on the heels of the Eric-Bana-as-villain reports comes word from the Hollywood Reporter that Chris Pine (recently seen in the Lindsay Lohan comedy – if you can call it that – “Just My Luck”) could be the new Captain Kirk in the “Star Trek” prequel. Hmm. I gotta tell ya, something about this dude irks me – is it the eyes? I think it is. Is Meg Foster his mama? I don’t doubt that he’s a good actor, but I wonder if – should he get the part – I’ll be even able to look to the screen when the guy is on. He’ll blind me with those sparklers!
If Pine joins “Trek,” which J.J. Abrams is directing, he would face off against Eric Bana, who was cast Tuesday as the film’s villain, Nero, says the trade.
In addition, says the trade, Pine – somebody in Hollywood likes him – has also been offered a lead role in Joe Carnahan’s “White Jazz”. Problem is, both films might be shooting at the same time. If Pine opts to do that over “Trek”, he’d play Junior Stemmons, George Clooney’s partner in the film noir tale.
A choice is to be made Neo. Or does it? (might the studios work around him?)
