Sounds like V is definitely dead; Baccarin signs for Homeland

A few days ago Dennis mentioned a campaign that’s kicked off to help save the recently-cancelled ABC series “V” (with supporters hoping to encourage rival network TNT to pick up the show); unfortunately, looks like those resurrection requests have gone unheard.

One of the show’s stars, Morena Baccarin, has now signed up to star in Showtime’s new series “Homeland”. The actresses commitment to another show essentially confirms “V” will live on only in repeats. Sure, TNT could recast Baccarin’s character on “V”, should they pick it up, but I think it’s pretty clear that’s not going to happen. Sad, there’s just not many good science-fiction shows on the air at the moment; we could’ve used one.

Says Deadline :

The upcoming thriller, from 24 executive producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, centers on Marine Sergeant Scott Brody (Damian Lewis), who returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq, and Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes), a driven CIA officer who suspects he might be plotting an attack on America. Baccarin will play Jessica Brody, Scott’s smart, strong wife. She replaces Laura Fraser, who played the role in the pilot. The series, which also co-stars Mandy Patinkin, is slated to debut in the fall.

I’ve loved Baccarin from that very first moment she emerged from her spacely brothel on “Firefly”, and she was quite good on “V” too, so I’ll follow her anywhere – particuarly to a cable series starring Mandy Patinkin!
