Soundtrack clearly not Cursed

Collective Soul have been confirmed as those crooning the theme song to the new Wes Craven pic "Cursed", opening in Feb.

The group’s "Better Now", which will be in shops about a fortnight before the movie opens, will be just one of a slew of slick tracks on the CD. Folks may recall that Soul did the theme track to Craven’s "Scream 2" a few years back.

The track listing for the soundtrack also includes : titles by Days Grace, Dashboard Confessional, The Crystal Method, Bowling For Soup (who apparently do a nifty retool of "Lil’ Red Riding Hood"),and composer Marco Beltrami.

“I’m a huge Wes Craven fan, all the way back to the first ‘Nightmare On Elm Street,’” says Treadstone Records President Jonathan Platt. “The lineup of artists we were able to bring to the project is fantastic. And, of course, the soundtracks to the ‘Scream’ movies were very successful, and we’ve got a shot at duplicating that.”

“The ‘Cursed’ soundtrack captures the young, fresh, hip spirit that made the Scream soundtracks such all-around winners,” says Randy Spendlove, President Of Motion Picture Music for Miramax.

Meantime, a new pic from "Cursed" has hit the web. You can check it out here.
