Spider-Man director in talks for Snow White

Marc Webb, director of the Andrew Garfield-starring “Amazing Spider-Man” films, is in talks to direct a live-action adaptation of “Snow White” for Disney.

According to Variety, the filmmaker – whose other credits include “Gifted” and “The Only Living Boy in New York” – would helm an Erin Cressida Wilson script, one that expands on the story and music from the 1938 animated classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.

Based on the now 80-year-old Brothers Grimm fairytale, “Snow White” tells of a beautiful and kindhearted princess that charms every creature in the kingdom except one – her jealous stepmother, the Queen. When the Magic Mirror proclaims Snow White the fairest one of all, she must flee into the forest, where she befriends the lovable seven dwarfs – Doc, Sneezy, Grumpy, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, and Dopey.

Recent adaptations of the source material include 2012’s “Mirror Mirror” with Lily Collins as Snow White, and “Snow White and the Huntsman”, starring Kristen Stewart.

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the duo behind “La La Land,” “The Greatest Showman,” and “Dear Evan Hansen,” will write new songs for the Webb take.
