Stallone to play an assassin again?

Sylvester Stallone is set to star in Millennium Film’s “Scarpa”.

Brad Furman, director of “The Lincoln Lawyer”, will helm from a script by “Goodfellas” scribe Nicholas Pileggi.

“Scarpa” centres on hitman Gregory Scarpa, aka ‘The Grim Reaper’, who was a career criminal and an enforcer for the Colombo family. The film will look at his work as an informant for the FBI and helping solve the “Mississippi Burning” case by allegedly pistol-whipping and kidnapping a member of the Ku Klux Klan in 1964.

After pleading guilty to three murders in 1993, Scarpa went to prison and died the following year of AIDS.

The project will see Stallone reunite with “Rocky” producer Irwin Winkler and “The Expendables” producer Avi Lerner.
