Steve Carell will play the lead in “Marwencol”, a drama based on Jeff Malmberg’s 2010 documentary.
Robert Zemeckis will direct from a script by Caroline Thompson.
According to The Wrap, the film follows “Mark Hogancamp, whose memory was wiped away by a vicious assault. He finds comfort in building a miniature village populated by dolls whose identities are very real to him, as their actions help him cope with what happened to him.”
Zemeckis’ ImageMovers will produce and Malmberg will exec produce. Universal has optioned Malmberg’s documentary and Mark Hogancamp’s life rights.
