Steve Martin joins Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk

Steve Martin will star in “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk”.

According to Deadline, the actor will join Joe Alwyn and Garrett Hadlund in the film from director Ang Lee.

The adaptation of Ben Fountain’s 2012 novel centres on 19-year-old private Billy Lynn and his troop who survive a harrowing Iraq battle that is captured by news cameras. Now celebrated as heroes, they are brought home by the U.S. administration for a promotional tour, culminating at the spectacular halftime show of a Thanksgiving Day football game. However they know that at the end of it, they must return to the war.

The vast majority of the film takes place on the game day with flash backs to underlying events.

Production on the TriStar film will kick off in April.
