The Conjuring 3 gets a writer

Good news horror aficionados, “The Conjuring 3” is officially on its way, having been assigned a writer. Deadline reports that David Leslie Johnson has been tapped by New Line Cinema for the job of penning the script.

Johnson is familiar with the franchise, having written the second instalment for the horror series, and has also been involved with other horror projects including “Orphan” and the reboot to “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. He’s also worked alongside James Wan and Peter Safran for the rewrite of “Aquaman”.

And speaking of Wan and Safran, it’s being reported that Wan is unlikely to return as director for the third instalment, but is expected to produce alongside Safran under the hat of Atomic Monster.

Thus far, no plot or loglinr has been released for “The Conjuring 3”, but it’s said to be based again on the real life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. “The Conjuring 3” will mark the seventh “Conjuring” flick, with “Annabelle: Creation” coming soon.
