The Exorcist, Dead Ringers reboots in the works

A reboot of the classic Friedkin fright-fest “The Exorcist” is in the works over at Morgan Creek.

Per Deadline, the pea-soup spewing bed bite is returning to theaters in 2021 (pandemic pending).

Despite declaring a couple of years ago that they’d never attempt to redo the ’70s horror classic, the studio seems to have had a change of heart – unless, of course, this is more a continuation of the original than a rehash!?

There were two sequels to the original William Friedkin directed film, as well as a prequel and TV series.

Meanwhile, Anapurna Productions is greasing the wheels on a TV series reboot of David Cronenberg’s “Dead Ringers”.

Rachel Weiz, of “The Mummy” series, will star in the update of the classic gender-swap flick. In the show, written by Birch, The Mantle twins, played by Weisz, are the most successful, brilliant and extraordinary people you’ve never met. Identical from head to toe, these two OB-gyn’s are on a mission to change the way women birth, starting with Manhattan. Drugs, pioneering but very much illegal medical research, sex and falling in love, this drama based on the David Cronenberg 80s cult classic, takes us to darker and stranger territory than we could have possibly imagined.
