The Hulk is coming back to TV!

Marvel are prepping a new “Incredible Hulk” ‘TV Series’. Not a bad idea – for a couple of reasons : firstly, Marvel has struggled to turn the property into a viable big-screen franchise (though the character will play a part in “The Avengers”), but more so, the longeivity and popularity of superhero series “Smallville” proves that there’s an appetite out there for small-screen superheroes. Oh, and of course, there’s going to be a slot to fill when “Smallville” goes bye-bye later this year.

Importantly, we know, having all grown up watching Bill Bixby turn into Lou Ferrigno each week, that the show lends itself to television. That “Fugitive”-style blueprint that worked for the original CBS series will likely be reemployed here. Imagine it’ll be a success, too.

In addition to “Hulk”, Marvel are also bringing “Cloak and Dagger” to the small screen (ABC Family will likely air it), says THR.

The studio had drawn up a list of potential new smallscreen superhero shows that they felt might work – including “The Punisher”, “Heroes-for-Hire” with Luke Cage, “Ka-Zar” and “Moon Night” – but ultimately decided to go with “Hulk” and “Cloak and Dagger” (the latter of which wasn’t on the initial list).

If the Hulk is successful, Marvel will consider bringing The Punisher to the small screen next. Suitably, they say it’s likely the Frank Castle show would air on cable.

Interestingly enough, the news of a “Hulk” and “Cloak and Dagger” series comes hot on the heels of the announcement that DC are bringing “Wonder Woman” to the big screen.

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, right?
