Trailer and Poster for Drive Angry

The trailer and movie poster for Patrick Lussier’s – a good friend of Clint’s, I believe – “Drive Angry” just hit.

The movie, which has a terrific cast including Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard (so good in “All The Boys Love Mandy Lane”), William Fichtner (Mahone from “Prison Break”) and “Twilight” ‘Dad’ Billy Burke, is a sort-of supernatural revenge thriller about a father who goes after – in his charger – the dudes that killed his daughter and kidnapped his grandson! Looks like fun!

Patrick tells Moviehole that “When we created “Drive Angry”, Todd Farmer and I were very specific with the kind of movie we wanted to make. We loved these 70s road movies which actually started in 67 with “Bullet” and go up through “Vanishing Point” and “French Connection” and “The Seven-Ups” and then also “Dirty Larry, Crazy Mary”, you know it was such an interesting time of film making and the anti-heroes that are in these movies, particularly “High Plains Drifter”, which isn’t a car movie, that was something we also wanted to fold into the story and that gave us the supernatural element and the sort of relentless force of nature that the main character would become. That and coming up with the idea on “Groundhog Day” and talking about Bill Murray, “Don’t drive angry” as he says to Punxsutawney Phil and then embracing the “drive angry” portion of that phrase and going from there.”

Great!

Nicolas Cage is Milton, a hardened felon who has broken out of hell for one last chance at redemption. Intent on stopping a vicious cult who murdered his daughter, he has three days to stop them before they sacrifice her baby beneath a full moon.

He’s joined by Piper (Amber Heard) – a young, sexy waitress who liberates her ex-boyfriend’s cherry-red muscle car in order to help Milton. Now, the two of them are hot on the trail of the deadly leader of the cult, Jonah King (Billy Burke), who believes it is his destiny to use the baby to unleash hell on earth.

But the bloodthirsty cult is the least of Milton’s problems. The police are after him too. And worse, an enigmatic killer known only as “The Accountant” – who has been sent by the Devil to retrieve Milton and deliver him back to hell. With wicked cunning and hypnotic savagery, the Accountant will relentlessly pursue Milton at high speed across the country until his mission is accomplished.

Fueled by high octane and pure rage, Milton must use his anger to go beyond all human limits to avenge his daughter’s murder, before his last chance at redemption is revoked.
