The Jungle Book swings into action

Production on Andy Serkis’ live action remake of the children’s classic “The Jungle Book” is now underway.

Serkis makes his feature directorial debut on the project about the human child Mowgli who is raised in the jungle by a pack of wolves and his friends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther.

The story is of course based on Rudyard Kipling’s infamous book which Callie Kloves adapted for the screen.

The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, the tiger; Cate Blanchett as Kaa, the snake; Christian Bale as Bagheera, the panther; Serkis as Baloo, the bear; Naomie Harris as Nisha, the female wolf, who adopts baby Mowgli; and Rohan Chand as the boy at the centre of it all, Mowgli.

Peter Mullan, Tom Hollander, Eddie Marsan and Jack Reynor also star.

Steve Kloves is producing with Nikki Penny executive producing.

“The Jungle Book” will open in cinemas on October 6, 2017.
