The Loch Ness Monster could join the MonsterVerse

In one corner, we’ve got Universal’s Dark Universe, in the other corner it’s Legendary’s MonsterVerse. Representing MonsterVerse, it’s Nessie, otherwise known as the more menacing “Loch Ness Monster” – the newest addition to the team, joining Godzilla and Kong. Meanwhile, The Dark Universe has just seen “The Mummy” take on box offices everywhere. Let’s get ready to rummmmbbblleeeeeee!

If you didn’t bother to read all that, Nessie is getting made into a movie, to join Legendary’s MonsterVerse. The Loch Ness Monster will be adapted from Steven Alten’s 2005 book “The Loch”, which is based around a mysterious creature living in Loch Ness in Scotland. We’ve all heard the story, and despite it being a legend, no one has been able to disprove the presence of Nessie thus far, just saying.

Given Nessie’s fame, it’s surprising that it hasn’t had its own feature film thus far, so if this one comes off it will be interesting to say the least. Especially as the book’s discourse surrounds murder, mystery, and a near drowning experience in Nessie’s house.

The book comes from the same writer as next year’s “Meg”, a film about a giant Megladon shark. So safe to say Alten enjoys combining science fiction with horror, and just giant monsters in general. “Meg” comes out in August next year, and stars Jason Statham.Of course that means that next, I’d like to see the giant shark take on the Loch Ness Monster – please and thank you.

Of course at this stage, Alten’s book is only being optioned for film adaptation, so this is by no means locked in, but I think we all have to cross our fingers and toes ’cause quite frankly, it sounds f*cking awesome.
