The follow-up to the brilliant “Monsters Inc.” has been given an official title: “Monsters University”, and it will be a prequel.
Disney/Pixar confirmed the rumours at CinemaCon today, and the new flick will follow Mike and Sully through university when they apparently hated each other, showing how they eventually end up as friends.
The original gang will reprise their roles in the film, with Billy Crystal and John Goodman heading up the project, slated for a November 2012 release.
I can’t believe it’s been almost 10 years since the first film came out, but “Monsters Inc.” is still going strong as my Number 1 Pixar movie. I like the idea of going for a prequel, it’s a fresh approach that I’m sure will be a massive hit.
