The Secret Life of Pets 2 gets 2019 release date

In news that is sure to please both children and pet lovers alike, the follow up to 2016’s “The Secret Life of Pets” is hitting screens on June 7, 2019. This does see it be pushed back a month from its previous release date on June, but given the popularity of the cute animated flick, no doubt fans will be okay to wait.

The Illumination hit is another gangbuster for the filmmakers, alongside box-office triumphs the “Despicable Me” series. The first “Pets” film followed a terrier named Max (voiced by Louis C.K), living in New York City, as he deals with his new housemate – a giant unruly canine named Duke (Eric Stonestreet).

Chris Renaud is going to return to direct the sequel, with writer Brian Lynch back to write the script. No confirmation thus far on returning cast, or potential storyline but with a release date set, no doubt the wheels are in motion.
