The ultimate Star Wars set is coming next March!

A massive 27-disc box set consisting of every “Star Wars” film – along with bonus discs of hours and hours of supplementary material – will be released next year.
The 4K Blu-ray set, “Star Wars : The Skywalker Saga”, coming on March 31, 2020, was briefly posted on Canada’s Best Buy site with a recommended retail price of $329.99. Sa-weet!

Judging from the early artwork – which IGN got their hands on before the retailer removed it – it looks like the discs come in a large book instead of a traditional Blu-ray case. Have a squiz below …

It’s likely that each film in the nine part series will be showcased across three discs.

Question is, which versions of the films are we getting? While it’s unlikely we’ll get the original theatrical versions of George Lucas’s original trilogy – and I very much doubt we’ll ever see them again; pity, shit, I hate some of that ‘special edition’ crap – will this set encompass the new “maclunkey” version of “A New Hope”, as seen on Disney+?

Whatever the case, it’ll be nice to have all nine films in 4k. Sure, the 4K editions of the series are currently available on the aforesaid streaming platform, but a purist like me hankers for something you can hold in your hand.

If March is the date the set hits shelves, don’t be surprised if that’s the same month the latest “Star Wars” film “The Rise of Skywalker” is released on disc and digital.

It’ll be even longer before we see the vampire Lestat again..
