Tim Riggins has a seemingly bright future after all…
“Friday Night Lights” fave Taylor Kitsch, recently seen on the big screen as ‘Gambit’ in the middling “Wolverine”, has snagged the lead role in Disney’s (formerly at Paramount, and then with Jon Favreau at the helm) long-gestating “John Carter of Mars” pic. Lynn Collins, also fresh from the Hugh Jackman starrer, has also signed on.
Kitsch will play the title character, a damaged Civil War veteran who finds himself mysteriously transported to Mars where his involvements with warring raced of the dying planet force him to rediscover his humanity.Collins will play Dejah Thoris, the Princess of Mars.
“Wall-E” helmer Andrew Stanton will make his live-action debut on the pic, which starts lensing next year.
